This is a track from Roads – Bridges – Space, our 43rd album, recorded in 2021. The Mallard was a British steam locomotive that broke the land speed record for steam traction on 3rd July 1938 – 126 miles per hour – a record that has never been broken. The Mallard remained in service until 1963 when it was retired. It now resides (still in functional order) in the National Railways Museum in York.
