It's a mess. The space under my kitchen sink is a dumping ground for half empty bottles of cleaner, bleach dishwasher tablets, rags and any other kitchen and household bits and pieces that should really be thrown out. Hopefully, this shelving unit from GEMWON can sort things out and bring a bit of order to the chaos under there.
In the robust but rather unexciting box, I received the upper and lower trays (both plastic), four metal legs, four clip-on hooks, four leg caps, two external baskets, two metal top handles and a simple and largely unnecessary assembly guide. Build quality all seem excellent and much better than the poorly made, ill fitting and rather flimsy rivals I have tried before. Everything here appears robust, heavy duty and built to last with all the bits fitting together securely and without a struggle the first time.
The units are 40 x 22 x 34 cm in size with a maximum assembled height of 40 cm when the handles are fitted.
Assembly is easy enough. Press each leg into the corresponding corner hole in the lower shelf (the one with the pull-out tray) and then push the top shelf down onto the legs, tapping down to seat them securely. You can then either push fit the top handles into the leg holes of the top shelf or fit the capping pegs. That's it. You can then position the external hooks and basket as required along the tray edges.
Once assembled the unit feels tough and robust, it does not wobble, flex or seem likely to fail anytime soon. It has a top shelf load bearing capacity of 30 kg, so it should be good for all your kitchen odds and ends and cleaning materials.. As plastic shelving units go it is not unattractive and is good enough for use pretty much anywhere without needing to be hidden away under the sink or in the shed.
Currently discounted on Amazon to just £12.99, there may be even cheaper rivals out there but they would be doing well to beat this one for strength, build quality or design. A pretty decent buy, I think
