UAE-Sudan Rift: Turkey's Erdogan to Play Peacemaker After Ethiopia-Somalia Deal? | Firstpost Africa

After brokering agreements between Ethiopia and Somalia and facilitating the Russia-Ukraine grain deal, Turkey is stepping into the Sudan conflict as a mediator. Ankara wants to mediate between the Sudan army and the United Arab Emirates. The Arab nation is accused by Sudan of supporting rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), politically and militarily, a charge that it denies. Erdogan also drew attention to the Ankara process that recently successfully mediated an agreement between rivals Ethiopia and Somalia. Sudan army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has received Turkey's offer positively. He said he welcomed any role Turkey could play in ending the war and called for greater Turkish investment in Sudan.
