From the Facebook page of Richard Acevedo: "It is with great sadness in sharing the passing of our Brother Fred Caban, founder of the Jesus music band Agape ( 1967 -1974 ), The news came from Fred's daughter Madonna Caban yesterday evening 🌹❤️🙏

In 1969 Larry Norman shares the stage at a Hollywood coffee house with a Southern California power rock trio who call themselves Agape. Norman was intrigued by the gritty, bluesy rock sound of their music and excited by its potential. No one had yet combined such hard, energetic rock music with a gospel message, and their sound was psychedelic rock with heavy guitars and blues rock that had an overall sludgy mood ... Larry Norman would take the band into the studio in 1969 in Hollywood, Ca ... The band would eventually release two albums, and a "Live" 8-track: 1971 "Gospel Hard Rock", Mark Records/1972 "Victims Of Tradition", Renrut Records/1974 "Live" Mount San Antonio College ... The band formed in 1967 and disbanded in 1974, performed in California, Utah, Arizona ... The original Agape is: Fred Caban - guitar/vocals, Mike Jungman - drums, Lonnie Campbell- bass ( also, Jim Peckhart - bass, 1970-1971, Richard Greenburg - bass, 1972-1974, Jim Hess - organ, electric piano )
