India: Boat Capsizes off Calangute Beach in Goa, One Dead & 20 Rescued

In India, a tourist boat capsized in the Arabian Sea off the Goa coast. The accident killed a 54-year-old while 20 others were rescued. The passengers on board included women and children. The Lifeguard agency personnel, who rushed to rescue the passengers, said children aged six and seven were revived and hospitalized along with two other women. The Goa police said that the boat capsized 60 metres from the shore of Calangute beach and was carrying 13 members of a family from Maharashtra. The police also said that except for two passengers, all were wearing life jackets. The Goa boat tragedy came a week after another incident near Mumbai. On December 18, a speeding Navy boast crashed into a passenger ferry, killing 15.
