DAY 5, EXPLORING DA STREETS OF STONE TOWN, ABANDONED OLD HISTORICAL BUILDINGS WITH SUPPORTING BEAMS

Day 5, 20th August 2022. My 1st Solo trip ever to East Africa, I explored Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar & Uganda Kampala. On this day I explored the beachfront of Stone Town Zanzibar. The buildings are old, Historical and have the Architecture influence of Middle Eastern and Indian influence. The buildings in Stone Town have big squared wooden windows with shutters and solid, heavy wooden doors all hand carved to perfection. The details of the big, heavy wooden doors is stunning. This details for doors and windows is the Middle Eastern style. The Wooden balconies is the result of the Indian influence in the Architecture. All of the wooden doors of the houses have solid brass spikes sticking out. This is to prevent the Elephants from breaking down the doors during the war between India and the Middle East during the 1800's. Everyday the local jump of the promenade and swim. they asked me if i wanted to join in and i wasn't in the mood to swim.
