Iguana In A Basin?!

Pip, our green iguana, seems to think a basin with a towel is the perfect, comfortable spot to lay in. I'm unsure if it is comfortable or if our girl is just a special and unique iguana. Either way, she loves it and it makes her happy.

Green iguanas sometimes exhibit a behavior where they stretch one or both legs backward, often referred to as the "sexy leg" pose. This behavior has several possible explanations, depending on the context:

Thermoregulation: Stretching out a leg increases the surface area exposed to the sun or airflow, helping the iguana regulate its body temperature. This is especially common when they're basking in sunlight.

Relaxation and Comfort: Iguanas may stretch their legs backward simply as a comfortable resting position, particularly when they feel safe and relaxed in their environment.

Communication or Display: Although less common, this pose could be part of a visual display, signaling dominance, territory, or readiness for mating. However, this is typically more noticeable in other behaviors like head-bobbing or dewlap extension.

Stretching or Muscle Relaxation: Like other animals, iguanas may stretch their limbs as part of normal movement to keep their muscles limber and reduce stiffness.
