Yes - Live - 2001.08.11 - Columbus, Ohio - Palace Theater
This was my FIRST Yes concert just as I was getting familiar with them. I was more familiar with the Rabin era, but thanks to NAPSTER (remember Napster) I was getting more familiar with their longer epics and past music.
I did not know some of the longer bits like Close to the Edge or Ritual, but the highlight was Steve playing Masquerade as Union was the first album I ever listened to. Him playing it on just that night on the tour was proof to me I needed to be there.
My friends came with me and they were less fans than I was. When Yes came out on the stage my friend's comment was 'Wow, they're old.' And this was back in 2001! Needless to say they were loss more than me, but did think the Ritual part was amazing (although my friends wife at the time was upset she smelled POT oh noooo!)
I could not even see Tom Brislin from where we were sitting. The whole show I thought they had no keyboards till many days later.
Mind you as well, this was RIGHT before 9/11... oh how times were different. I remember Yes posting on yesworld.com a message letting their fans know they were in New York but alright.
Great show and performance from both the band and Orchestra. It was the beginning of a longtime fandom of me, until they got rid of Jon Anderson and it's been downhill since then.
