Where did many of Christmas Traditions here in the United States really come from? In large part, from the Victorian Englishman Charles Dickens. Every year, we all see some version of the story “A Christmas Carol” first written in 1843 by Charles Dickens. But did you know this story didn’t describe many of our Christmas Traditions, it CREATED them.

Before Dickens' tale, Christmas in England was pretty subdued & mostly religious only affair, due to England’s PURITAN Root. The holiday lacked the festive fervor we associate with it today.

When Charles Dickens wrote the "A Christmas Carol", he wasn’t describing Christmas Traditions from his childhood or the English Culture…he was making them up into his NEW Version of what he thought the Christmas Season SHOULD be about.

So How did "A Christmas Carol" influence our celebration?? Here are just five traditions that were CREATED in the book “A Christmas Carol” : Singing Christmas Carols, Paid Vacation for the Holidays, Christmas Trees, Christmas Cards and Gifts and of course, the Christmas Spirit!

Now, 160 years later, this Christmas Season here in Orlando, We wish YOU a Spirit of Community, Generosity and Kindness… now and throughout the coming year!
