Scott: “This Amazon strike, how big of a deal is it? Is it the kind of thing that can affect economic output in this country?”
GREGG: “Thanks for having me on, Jon. It’s very clear that the teamsters are trying to cause disruption it’s the perfect time of the year for them to do this of course. But, one of the things we are noticing is that packages are still being delivered. One of the things about Amazon that I think gives them an edge, it has always given them an edge is versatility. When it encounters problems it is very good at working with contractors, with other deliverers to make sure that the packages and other goods and services that they deliver arrive on time. So, this strike will go on I suspect until the teamsters believe they’re either not going to get their way or they get Amazon to the table. But Amazon I do not think it is going to be particularly affected by this and I think it reflects the fact that they are a company that knows how markets work and it knows how to deal with those contractors and other delivering mechanisms that make them so efficient at delivering goods and services year-round.”
