Egypt hosts Iranian and Turkish leaders for D-8 summit

Leaders from the D-8 bloc of developing nations are in Cairo for a special summit to discuss Israel's actions in Syria, Gaza and Lebanon.

It's the first time they've met in person since 2017, and a range of regional challenges are on the agenda.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian is also be attending the talks.

It's the first visit by an Iranian leader to Egypt in more than a decade.

while Turkiye called for Syria's unity post-Assad.

Egypt and Iran, with strained ties, have renewed engagement amid Gaza's crisis, as the D-8 seeks a larger role in shaping the region's future.
