2 Corinthians 7:2-16

The apostle Paul had faced a great deal of opposition and even open mockery by some in Corinth. Nevertheless, Paul loved the Corinthian believers and had confidence that they would open their hearts wide to him. Having sent a "severe letter" (one that has not been preserved for us), Paul was concerned about their response. His hope was for the Corinthians to have "Godly sorrow" that would lead to true repentance. Finally, Titus had arrived in Macedonia with wonderful news: the Corinthians had warmly welcomed him and Paul's letter of correction. Paul was overwhelmed with joy at the good news! His final words in chapter seven speak volumes: "I rejoice that in everything I have confidence in you."
