Killjoy's Exploits: The Terminator [SNES, 1993] (Movie 40 Anniversary Full Run)
KEP-7: This is a full run of the 1993 platformer game adaptation of the classic 1984 James Cameron science fiction action horror movie which has reached its 40th anniversary this year [2024].
As is the case with the film, the player controls Kyle Reese, a battle-hardened soldier fighting in a desperate apocalyptic war against an army of lethal robots controlled by a sociopathic A.I. called SkyNet that has declared war on mankind.
The surviving humans eventually win the war against these machines, but they discover that SkyNet has anticipated its eventual defeat and developed a failsafe plan - by using time travel, the A.I. has sent one of its deadly cyborg warriors - a T-800 Terminator - back in time to 1984 to hunt down and kill the mother of the Leader of the Human Resistance, a waitress named Sarah Connor. Kyle Reese is sent back to stop this infiltrator assassin from completing its deadly mission...
As Kyle, the player has to fight in the Future War against Terminators [both regular units and "skin jobs"] and Hunter Killers, and on the dangerous streets of 1984 Los Angeles, although in a departure from the plot of the movie, Kyle has to fight an army of street toughs that The Terminator has [at least in this particular game] recruited to run interference as part of its mission, not to mention various attack helicopters... Funny, I don't remember seeing those in the film...
The game carries the traditional Terminator game trait of being so difficult that it would be easier to challenge a real-life T-800 to a game of "kick each other's nuts" and the apartment rooftop level that comprises the majority of the game is a special kind of bullhitsa, with the constant leaps of faith you need to do.
At least this game is a step above the woeful NES game from a year earlier...
I used hacking cheat codes for invincibility.
Gameplay Recorded on 27th November 2024
Player: Mile "The Killjoy" Sipka
Recorded on physical equipment, although the process used caused some sound distortion, so take some note of that.
