Devices like The Interceptor by The Ocean Cleanup capture plastic waste in rivers using a solar-powered conveyor system, with the capacity to collect up to 50,000 kilograms (110,000 pounds) of trash per day.

Similarly, Mr. Trash Wheel, powered by solar panels and water currents, has removed over 1,000 tons of waste from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor since its deployment.

Smaller systems like the SeaBin, installed in marinas and ports, continuously filter water to trap microplastics, oil, and debris in a collection bag, capable of processing thousands of liters daily.
