Winter Freeze Up - Ep. 16 December 19, 2024

The colder weather is back. And, this time it seems a little more persistent with daytime temperatures well below freezing and nighttimes of ice building cold.

Although there wasn't an increase in thickness since yesterday, the top slushy wet layer of soft ice has firmed up, became hard and bonded to the clear ice below. The shoreline has refrozen and was almost safe to walk on. The ground seems to be taking the frost now too.

I expect more changes tomorrow. It's cold out there.
