Chad Wolf, the former acting secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, says the mystery drone sightings over New Jersey and the Northeast highlights a broader concern regarding the use of private or commercial drones in restricted U.S. air space. “NORAD put out a statistic that [since] 2022, there’s been over 600 drone incursions over military bases in North America. That’s a problem. That’s a problem they’ve got to deal with,” he says. “So I think there’s a larger solution set here than just what’s occurring over New Jersey.”
