Distance Between the US and Russia is Less Than You Think - Diomede Islands

Did you know that the United States and Russia are just two miles apart?
In the Bering Strait, two tiny islands — Little Diomede, and Big Diomede — serve as the dividing line.
Little Diomede belongs to USA, and it is home to the most isolated town in the USA called Diomede, with just 80 residents.
Big Diomede, belongs to Russia and it is uninhabited, apart from military personnel.
During winter, the water between these islands freezes, creating an ice bridge that makes it possible to cross the border by land.
To make it even more fascinating, the International Date Line runs between these two islands.
