Weatherford police on Wednesday released body camera video of an officer-involved shooting stemming from a domestic disturbance early Saturday morning.

Body camera footage shows an officer coaxing a young child to safety before opening fire on the suspect. The suspect is in the hospital. The victims weren't injured.

Officers responded around 2 a.m. Saturday to Cypress View Villas on Atwood Court after a woman called to report an assault.

In the video, dispatchers can be heard telling the responding officers that the man accused of the assault is armed and threatening to shoot the officers when they arrive.

Officers said two children were inside the home at the time of the incident.

As officers arrived, the door to the apartment was open, and the officer can be heard calling to one of the children inside the apartment to come outside.

Police said the two children and the woman were able to make it outside.

Police say the man then pointed a gun. Officers are heard on camera telling the man to drop his gun.

The man can be heard responding, "No! You drop it!"

The officer hit the 40-year-old suspect, who was taken to a Fort Worth hospital.

The suspect remains in the hospital. His name has not been released because he has not been booked into jail.
