Fire from the Mk44 Bushmaster II autocannon of a Polish Rosomak IFV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 30mm Mk 310 PABM-T airburst programmable rounds at a landing site.

During preparation for firing, immediately before feeding the projectile into the barrel, a special programmer enters data into the fuse electronics via the receiving coil, namely the range at which the main charge should be detonated. Under the action of the barrel rifling, the projectile rotates around its longitudinal axis during firing and in flight. Its electronics count the number of revolutions and detonate after a specified number of them.

Such air-bursting ammunition allows armored vehicles to more effectively hit infantry hiding in trenches or lying down, and to shoot down air targets.
However, the domestic Ministry of Defense has stubbornly ignored such an important and promising type of ammunition for many years. However, like many other things, we are now forced to catch up in the situation of being hopelessly behind.
