"You gotta be careful dude. You can still die. You're not Wolverine!" Paramount has unveiled the official trailer for an action comedy called Novocaine, landing in theaters in March 2025 early next year. From the filmmaking duo Dan Berk & Robert Olsen comes this crazy new action flick. Which reminds me of the two super crazy Crank and Crank: High Voltage movies. Meet Nathan Caine. He feels no pain. When the girl of his dreams (played by Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back. Jack Quaid stars as Nate Caine (that name is a bit too similar to "novocaine" but that's obviously on purpose) along with Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson, Betty Gabriel, Matt Walsh, Lou Beatty Jr., Van Hengst, Conrad Kemp, Jacob Batalon. This looks like a totally ridiculous concept that should make for a totally entertaining movie. Hopefully. Who's down?

Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Dan Berk & Robert Olsen's Novocaine, direct from YouTube:

When his new beau is taken hostage in a bank robbery, his affliction becomes his superpower. The screenplay is written by Lars Jacobson. Produced by Drew Simon, Tory Tunnell, Joby Harold, Sam Speiser, Matt Schwartz, & Julian Rosenberg. This hasn't premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Paramount Pictures will debut Novocaine in theaters exclusively starting on March 14th, 2025 next year.

Jack Quaid finds the rare genetic disorder that makes him impervious to physical pain becomes useful when he tries to save his girlfriend taken hostage in a bank robbery in the Novocaine trailer.

Suddenly, his affliction becomes a superpower as he turns into an ass-kicking action hero. Quaid plays Nate Caine, a mild-mannered everyman. Throughout the look at the film, he’s seen saying “It’s fine” when a knife is driven into his hand and feeling no pain when shards of glass are embedded in his knuckles, or when he grabs a gun from a hot deep fryer.

The movie hits cinemas on March 14th,2025.
In Amazon's ultraviolent superhero satire series "The Boys," Jack Quaid plays one of the few characters who isn't imbued with superpowers. But in his latest film role, Quaid plays a man who is a superhero... well, sort of. He certainly has a super-sized heart as he tries to rescue the woman of his dreams in the trailer for "Novocaine."

In this new action comedy, Quaid stars as Nathan Caine, a mild-mannered bank office manager. He's living his life like a normal guy with no problems on the horizon. But everything is turned upside down when he falls in love with the woman of his dreams, a beautiful bank clerk played by Amber Midthunder, star of Hulu's hit "Predator" installment "Prey."

You see, Nathan finds himself in a serious predicament when his bank is robbed by an armed gang of masked thieves dressed in Santa Claus suits. When the thieves take Nathan's new girlfriend hostage and flee in a getaway, he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. But here's the twist: Nathan, much like a superhero, has a rare disorder that makes him feel no pain. Zero... Zilch... Nada! While he's no Wolverine -- he can certainly die from his injuries, Nathan can definitely take a beating like no one else. And it seems that for the price of love, Nathan is willing to do anything to get his girl back. Even if it means Nathan's body will have to act as a pinata as he endure a series of brutal beatings from a couple of tough bad guys. Love hurts, sometimes.

Co-starring Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel, and Matt Walsh, "Novocaine" is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the same filmmaking duo behind the darkly comic horror thriller "Villains" and the cult vampire sequel "The Stakelander." The film is written by Lars Jacobson.

"Novocaine" is scheduled to open in theaters on March 14, 2025. Watch the trailer, above.

In Deadpool & Wolverine we see the Marvel heroes stabbed, shot, and much worse, only to shake it off and keep fighting. But they feel every bit of it. They hurt. A lot. Well, Jack Quaid has them beat in the new action-comedy Novocaine, because his character leaps into danger feeling no pain at all.

As seen in the new trailer for Novocaine, Quaid plays Nate, a regular guy who must rescue the girl of his dreams, played by Prey breakout Amber Midthunder, when she’s suddenly kidnapped. He endures a ton of punishment and inflicts a lot of it on himself because Nate has the unique ability to feel no pain. Dip his hands into hot frying oil? No problem! Pretty handy talent to have at a time like this.

The film is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen from a script by Lars Jacobson. Berk and Olsen previously directed the Maika Monroe thrillers Significant Other and Villains.

Others in the cast include Ray Nicholson, Betty Gabriel, Matt Walsh, Lou Beatty Jr., Van Hengst, Conrad Kemp and Spider-Man‘s Jacob Batalon.

Paramount Pictures opens Novocaine hits theaters on March 14th 2025.

SYNOPSIS: When the girl of his dreams (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate (Jack Quaid) turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.
Jack Quaid is immune to pain in the trailer for Novocaine. Quaid is best known for playing Hughie Campbell Jr. in Prime Video's hit series The Boys, which is currently filming its fifth and final season. Before The Boys season 5 releases, audiences will see Quaid as the introverted and reserved Nathan Caine, who not only has a pain insensitivity, but sees his life upended when his girlfriend (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped during a bank robbery. Novocaine's cast also includes Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned Leeds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with Smile 2's Ray Nicholson.

Paramount Pictures has now released the official trailer for Novocaine, which shows Nathan not feeling pain, and also being out of his depth, as he fights to rescue his girlfriend. He nonchalantly says "it's fine" when Batalon's character accidentally throws a knife into his hand and embeds glass shards into his knuckles so he can be more like Wolverine. Nathan also tries his best to pretend that he is in pain when being tortured. Check out the trailer below:

What This Means For Novocaine
It Looks Like Nobody Meets The Boys

Novocaine looks like an action movie that takes cues from Bob Odenkirk's Nobody and The Boys. While Nathan is not a former assassin like Odenkirk's Nobody character, there is a similar feeling of a seemingly ordinary character becoming an action hero who does brutal things to save his loved ones. Nathan's temperament is similar to Hughie and Novocaine's cartoonish use of violence and gore is also reminiscent of The Boys, as is the frequency of Quaid's character being covered in blood.

Batalon's character reminds Nathan that he is not invincible, as he can still die, so there will still be life-or-death stakes for Nathan despite his unique pain resistance.

While there will be plenty of high-octane action, like The Boys, Novocaine also looks as though it will not be taking itself too seriously. Nathan's inability to feel pain proves useful in his quest to save his girlfriend, but his condition is also played for laughs, as it leads to many absurd scenarios. Batalon's character reminds Nathan that he is not invincible, as he can still die, so there will still be life-or-death stakes for Nathan despite his unique pain resistance.

Our Take On The Novocaine Trailer
2025 Will Be A Great Year For Jack Quaid Movies
Jack Quaid smiling in Companion
Novocaine has the potential to be one of 2025's best action movies. The balance of thrilling action, comedy, and drama will make for an entertaining story and be a suitable vehicle for Quaid to further showcase his talents. Novocaine makes 2025 an even more exciting year for Quaid's career, as prior to Novocaine's March 14 release, he will be playing a more sinister role in the movie Companion opposite Sophie Thatcher. The wait for The Boys season 5 will be more manageable with Quaid's two movies releasing in 2025.

“When the girl of his dreams (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate (Jack Quaid) turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.”

Novocaine is in cinemas March 25, 2025.
During its panel this Thursday at CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil, Paramount Pictures teased some of its upcoming releases, and one of them was action-thriller Novocaine. The upcoming movie stars Jack Quaid (The Boys) as a man who was born with CIPA – a rare disorder that prevents a person from feeling physical pain. The movie is set to premiere in mid-March, but CCXP attendees got a chance to have an exclusive glimpse of its trailer, and thankfully, Collider was there to tell you all about it.

The red-band trailer unveiled at CCXP showed attendees that Novocaine will go all in on its action scenes. We'll see a lot of fights with improvised weapons (a scorching hot frying pan was the standout) and, in one particular gruesome moment, Quaid's character Nate repeatedly punches broken glass in order for his fists to become deadly with glass shards buried into them. And it's just a fragment of what we'll see.

Even though we immediately think that not feeling pain is a major superpower, Novocaine also makes it clear that there are several downsides that can put one's life at risk. This was underscored by Quaid in an exclusive interview at the Thunder Stage. He explained that, in Nathan's case, he was forced to blend his food so that he wouldn't accidentally chew on his own tongue and even needed to put alerts on to remind himself to go to the bathroom. It's certainly not the best life to live, and it's easy to get pulled into Novocaine when you root for its main character to finally have a win after a troubled life.

Who Is the Team Behind 'Novocaine?'

Novocaine is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. The duo of filmmakers have been celebrated for their work in horror cinema, having previously helmed Villains and Significant Other. The screenplay is written by Lars Jacobson, who previously penned Day of the Dead: Bloodline. Aside from Quaid, the cast of Novocaine also features Amber Midthunder (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Matt Walsh (Veep), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Betty Gabriel (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan).

In an official statement to Deadline, Berk and Olsen revealed that it was easy to get involved in the project because "it’s hard to find unique access points in this genre, but this film and the unlikely hero at its heart captured our imagination right away." Novocaine producers Drew Simon, Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Matt Schwartz, Josh Adler and Julian Rosenberg teased that the movie is "a non-stop, edge-of-the-seat action thriller loaded with all the heart, humor and kickass-ery you could ever want."

Novocaine hits theaters on March 14, 2025.

Quaid stars as Nate Caine, a seemingly unremarkable everyman with an extraordinary twist: a rare condition called CIPA (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain). While this disorder presents its challenges—like needing to time bathroom breaks or blending food to avoid injury—it also turns out to be Nate’s secret weapon when his new girlfriend (played by Amber Midthunder of Prey) is taken hostage during a bank heist. The trailer showcases our unexpected hero’s transformation from mild-mannered banker to ass-kicker, shrugging off injuries that would incapacitate most – whether it’s a knife in the hand or reaching into boiling oil. To be clear, his body still takes all the damage though.

The film comes from directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen (Villains, Significant Other) and writer Lars Jacobson, with a supporting cast includes Ray Nicholson, Betty Gabriel, Matt Walsh, Lou Beatty Jr., Van Hengst, Conrad Kemp, and Jacob Batalon.
