Chromosomes are thread-like structures present in the nucleus. They are important because they contain the basic genetic material DNA. These are present inside the nucleus of plants as well as animal cells. Chromosomes were first so called discovered by Strasburger in 1815

Human beings have 46 chromosomes in their body. These are arranged into 23 pairs.

With the last pair being responsible for the sex.

The Y chromosome is found only in male members of the family and transferred from father to son and never transferred to the woman.

According to EB Williamson

The Y chromosome is a structure found solely in the males sperm of certain animals and never found in the egg. Which would make the male the main determining factor on if humans have either the XY chromosome or the XX chromosome.

Why are men responsible for the sex?

Because women can only add the X chromosome and men can create both men and women adding the X or the Y.
