Home for the Holidays - Give Homeless Youth Warm Socks

One of the saddest things I have seen is children being trafficked. Some of the most vulnerable children you will meet on the streets of Canada are homeless youth.

If there is something that touches your heart - that may be the best place to start your charitable giving.

There are many reasons youth may become homeless. In my time on the street, I had the opportunity to meet a few young homeless people - most of them were brokenhearted about things that had had happened in their homes and decided that in order to survive they would need to leave.

The first time I ran away from home I was five - I was tired of being beaten by my mother. I grabbed my only friend - a dolly that I'd cut the hair off to match my boy's haircut. My mother did not want a girl so she had cut off my bouncy curls after smashing my face into the sink as she washed my hair.
Don't you dare cry- she'd threaten, or I'll really give you something to cry about!

Down the side of the busy highway I headed out determined never to go back....

Need a new toque or socks?
Why not buy a gift that gives back?
Head over to your Home Depot website and order yourself a winter hat or a couple of pair of socks tonight!

What is the why that makes you cry?

This video is not sponsored. It is posted in gratitude for what Home Depot is doing for homeless youth.
