Two Russian oil tankers were severely damaged in the Kerch Strait, causing an oil spill, with one crew member killed and others stranded due to bad weather.

Rescue operations saved 13 crew members, while 14 remain aboard the second tanker.

Footage showed significant damage, including a broken-off bow.

President Putin has launched an investigation into potential criminal negligence.

The tankers, owned by Volgatanker, were carrying about 4,300 tonnes of oil each and were likely used for coastal transport.

The Kerch Strait, a key trade route, has seen similar incidents, including a major spill in 2007, the BBC has reported.
