The Case of Daniel Penny

The case of Daniel Penny electrified the nation. It all began when an unhinged Jordan Neely, a mentally disturbed, homeless individual entered a subway car. Neely harassed and threatened to kill passengers on board. Penny, a U.S. Marine, decided to take matters into his own hands by defending the women and children aboard.

In order to subdue Neely, Penny applied a fatal chokehold and unfortunately Neely died as a result. The death of Neely sparked outrage especially among blacks who claimed that Penny killed Neely simply because he was a black man. Protests ensued throughout-the streets of New York lead by the fringe opportunist group Black Lives Matter . Subsequently, Penny was acquitted but the story doesn't end there.

The question I pose is how do we decide on what is a righteous action and what action is evil? Who, if anyone, has the right to morally judge another person? Again how do we make that determination especially if we do not know the facts? Or if we do not know the heart of an individual.
