Metroid (NES): An Underrated Masterpiece

Out of all the 2D Metroid Games we've ever gotten, the original game for NES is considered to be the worst among them. This makes sense as it was not only the first game in the franchise, but also the first of the Metroidvania genre. I have always had a soft spot for this game, and over the last few weeks I have revisited it quite a bit, growing more fond of it each time I play it.

However, the bulk of the discourse surrounding this game has always been relatively negative. Don't get me wrong, this game has some faults, but I find that its positives severely outweigh its negatives. To the point that I would call this game a masterpiece of its time. In this video, I obviously delve much further into why I believe this to be true, and hopefully by the end I may have also swayed some of you to agree.

I have obviously been quite absent from this channel for a good minute. Not intentional by any means, it's just a really busy time of the year. If you have gotten this far, one, thank you for actually reading this thing, and two, I am truly thankful for each and everyone of you who have joined the channel within the last month and a half. The fact that I have almost accumulated 500 subscribers without uploading for a straight month (again seriously sorry) is astounding to me. Also if you follow me on Twitter, I have been giving semi regular updates on this video's production, long story short, it was shit show. This video should've been out last week, but because of my editing software bugging out, I had to leap through a ton of hurdles to get this thing completed. So suffice to say, this will be the last time I will be using that software, sucks because it has been remarkably consistent for me for almost five years now. Thankfully I have a temporary editor on my chromebook here, but thanks to all of you, I now have some of the resources, and more importantly, the justification to reinvest into some better long term equipment.

I definitely have a few videos I aim to get out before the end of the year, barring any other technical difficulties. Thank you all for the recent support on the channel, and enjoy this long overdue upload. And before any of you say anything, I am not giving Super Metroid hate, get over yourselves.
