When Did God Create the Universe? (Does it Matter?)

In this brief excerpt from the course, Intro to the Bible and Theology, Dr. Barber discusses when exactly God created this universe. As in, how long ago was it?

Many claim that the Bible does not tell us when God created. But that's not true. God clearly tells us when He created. Many also claim that it doesn't matter when God created. But again, that's not true either. It's absolutely critical when God created, even directly affecting the Cross of Jesus Christ and our salvation.

As you will see here, our LORD God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - created this universe about 6000 years ago. And it matters, because if death was in this universe for millions or even billions of years prior to that, and gave rise to humans, then we don't need salvation from death. But if death entered in after God created, as a result of our sin, then only Jesus can save us from sin and death.
