Transforming Our Sloped Garden: Terracing for Better Irrigation & Less Grass

Our back garden has always struggled with dry soil in the summer. With a 2-meter height difference over 30 meters, rainwater would quickly run off into our neighbor’s cornfield, leaving our grass parched—even with irrigation! So, we decided to terrace the orchard section of the garden, adding drip irrigation for our fruit trees and flowerbeds, and switching to drought-tolerant grass on the remaining slopes.

In this video, we tackle the first step—terracing between our established trees with some small machinery. It’s going to look messy before it improves, but we’re excited to create a garden that’s easier to maintain and better for water retention. Join us as we transform this space and get inspired for your own gardening projects!
