Hose Goals

Standard fire hoses, such as 1.5-inch diameter hoses, can discharge around 100 to 200 gallons per minute (GPM) at typical operating pressures of 100-150 psi.

Larger hoses, like 2.5-inch diameter hoses, can deliver 250 to 400 GPM or more, making them suitable for high-demand scenarios like structure fires.

Specialized large-diameter hoses (LDH), often used for supplying water from hydrants or pumpers, can handle flows exceeding 1,000 GPM.

The discharge rate is carefully controlled to balance effective firefighting with manageable recoil and weight for the crew.
