Our TOPIC: THE LIFTING POWER OF HUMILITY.

Today's SCRIPTURE: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1st Peter 5 verse 6. Hallelujah!

Our THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Humility has a lifting power; you humble your way to the top in life.

Humility has been confirmed to be a major pathway to greatness and higher heights in life. The Scripture confirms that God lifts the humble but brings down the proud. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. James chapter 4 verse 6. Hallelujah!

Humility has a lifting power; you humble your way to the top in life.

There are many great people who are very humble and down to earth. Humility is one of the secrets of great men. Everything around them should make them proud, but they chose to be humble.

However, there are those who have nothing to show for their existence in life, yet they are very proud. Their unusual level of pride has reduced their lives to nothing. Such people easily lose their jobs because of pride.

They can talk to their boss anyhow. They can say things like: “Who do you think you are? Is it because I am working for you that you are talking to me anyhow? Take your job!”

These individuals would rather choose to be unemployed with pride than be employed with humility.

You see, the lifestyle of pride is a hindrance to many good things in life.

Some people are poor and hungry today because of pride.

And some people boast about everything, including how they fast and do other spiritual things. I know someone like that. One day, he called me and said, “This is day twenty-one now without food.”
Then I said, “Well done.”

The question is, after you have counted the number of days you have been fasting, what else? And where is the result of such long days of fasting?

There are people who have not fasted for such number of days, yet they have seen unusual results by the mercy of God. This is because it is not of him that willeth or runneth but of God that showeth mercy (Romans chapter 9 verse 16).

Beloved, humility has a lifting power. Make up your mind to go up in life by the force of humility.

Remember this: Humility has a lifting power; you humble your way to the top in life.

Take this ASSIGNMENT with you:
#1. Employ the force of humility to go up and excel in life.

#2. Remain humble to stay up in life. Yes sir!

Our PRAYER today: Lord, I receive the grace to humble myself before You and before men. Help me never to lose divine opportunities by pride, Lord, in Jesus Name. Amen!

Today's Bible DAILY READING: from the book of Philemon to Hebrews chapter 2.

We start with the book of Philemon. I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient, Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ. I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds: Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me: Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels: Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel: But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly. For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever; Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord? If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself. If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account; I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides. Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord. Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say. But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you. There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus; Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellow labourers. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. Hallelujah!

Hebrews chapter 1, God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Hallelujah!

Hebrews chapter 2, Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. Hallelujah!
