Police have announced that the suspected shooter in the homicide of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, was not a client or customer of UnitedHealthcare, which the health care company confirmed in a statement. "[He] was not a member" or "client" of UnitedHealthcare. There was much speculation that may have been behind his motivation or motive.
