“The bird, dad, mom”, these are the only words uttered by the tongue of a lone child who survived death in a bombing that killed his entire family. His body was burned, and he is no more than four years old, trapped in Beit Hanoun with no hospitals or treatment to soothe the fire of his burns. He was displaced with others, passed from hand to hand until he reached the Baptist Hospital, repeating the last thing he remembers before the missile struck: his father bringing him a bird and feeding it a pomelo. Then the missile obliterated his father, his bird, his innocent body, his dreams, and his life.
