Putin, Orban Discuss Ukraine War; Hungary Offers to Mediate Peace Talks | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban called Russian President Vladimir Putin, to discuss a possible resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. "Viktor Orban expressed interest in assisting the joint search for political-diplomatic paths to resolve the crisis," the Kremlin said after the call. Orban has cast himself as a "possible peacemaker" between the two nations which have been warring since February 2022. The call with Putin comes just days after Orban met the US President-elect Donald Trump, who has promised to secure a Ukraine peace deal as soon as he assumes office in January. Orban remains the closest ally of both Trump and Putin in the European Union.
