Thomas Edward Manizak, who disappeared in 1999, has recently been found alive. After being nonverbal and unidentifiable in a Los Angeles hospital since April 2024, his photo appeared in a USA Today article. His sister recognized him and contacted authorities, leading to confirmation of his identity through fingerprints. Manizak, who was 28 when he vanished, had been traveling the U.S. in a van. His family is now looking forward to reuniting with him. However, Manizak's story also brings to light his criminal history; he was previously convicted of sexual offenses, which has caused mixed reactions within the communities involved
