Volume 1: Chapter 12, The First Period of Development of the National Socialist German Workers' Party
Hitler believes that millions of people want a change in the conditions in which they live. They do not see much hope in the existing political structure. This is the population mass that the National Socialist German Workers' Party hopes to appeal to. Hitler sees the nation torn into two parts by the end of 1918. One group is the intelligentsia and the other group consists of laborers. The workers tend to be a more or less Marxist movement. The nation is disarmed after the war and Hitler sees this as a danger. The people have little desire to bear arms, let alone manufacture them.
