Syrian Rebel Leader Discusses Transfer Of Power as Israel Launches Airstrikes on Syria

Syrian rebel leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani met with the outgoing Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed al-Jalali on Monday. The meeting was conducted to discuss the "transfer of power" following the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad's regime. Senior rebel figure Mohammed Bashir also participated in the meeting and is reportedly being considered by the rebels to serve as the new Prime Minister. Assad’s party, the Baath Party stated it would support Syria's transition. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council convened to discuss the rapidly changing situation in Syria, choosing to monitor developments before taking further action. Israel also launched over 100 airstrikes targeting military sites in Syria, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel had taken control of the Golan Heights and a buffer zone along its border with Syria.
