The Japanese island of Miyajima has voted to charge tourists more money to visit.
The island, also known as Itsukushima, is just a short ferry ride from Hiroshima and a popular destination for travelers.
Tourists looking for an adventurous day trip or breathtaking views frequently flock to the area.
Miyajima is known for its orange torii gate and for the 12th-century Itsukushima Shrine.
Newly elected mayor Taro Matsumoto told reporters he hopes the tax will be implemented by the spring of 2021.
