Tom talks about Miramax, which was created as an independent film and television production and distribution company, founded December 19, 1979, 44 years ago in Buffalo New York, by Harvey and Bob Weinstein, and its HQ was based in Los Angeles, CA. Today it is owned by beIN Media Group and Paramount Global.

In 1993 the Walt Disney Company acquired it until 2010; then Film Yard Holdings owned it from 2010-2016.

Mike Lang was the CEO of Miramax Films. He resigned March 16, 2012.

Lang was a former News Corp executive where he was involved in acquiring MYSPACE and starting the streaming service, HULU. Lang steered the deal for Filmyard Holdings to purchase Miramax Films from the Walt Disney Company. At closing he was named the CEO of Miramax Films where he licensed and sold the bulk of its Weinstein-era film Catalog.
