SAPHIER: “What’s your take?”
CONCHA: “Kudos, Eli Lake. He does his homework, like we discussed before we came on. This is a true journalist who looked at this objectively. Tulsi Gabbard served this country honorably in Iraq, and the fact that she was just skeptical about a couple things that were going on over there at the time, that is what people do in order to learn what is happening here. David Axelrod, who I used to respect at CNN until today, he sarcastically wrote this on X today: ‘There is absolutely no basis to the rumor that Assad spent the night on Tulsi Gabbard’s sofa.’ This is the sort of attacks that you get when you work with or will work for Donald Trump. We see it with as far as Pete Hegseth is concerned, we see with others that were Democrats. Tulsi Gabbard earned more delegates than Kamala Harris did when she ran for president in 2020, and now Donald Trump is bringing her on board because that’s what diversity really is, and she’ll do a great job. She’s going to be attacked because when you’re connected to Trump, that’s part of the contract.”
SAPHIER: “Well, we will continue to follow this while it unfolds. There will certainly be some salacious media headlines to follow, for sure.”
