The Grameen bank loans small amounts but empowers people such that the payback of the loan is about 98%. In addition Grameen gets 5% of its recipients out of poverty every year. They have loaned $39bn to almost 9.6 million people. Gates has given out $59.5bn and they only talk about lives saved based on non-verifiable Foundation sponsored data.
