After nearly 24 years of power,
Bashar al-Assad’s government has officially collapsed as opposition forces have taken control
of the country's capital, Damascus.

Shortly after Damascus fell,
The Supreme Command of the Syrian Armed Forces ordered all its personnel to lay down their arms
and announced that the Assad government was no longer in power.
The Syrian Army Command also notified what was left of its officers and soldiers about the regime’s collapse.
