Storm Darragh: Two Deaths, Power Outages in UK and Ireland

Storm Darragh has swept across the UK and Ireland, with high winds and rainfall killing two people and leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

Authorities sent a rare emergency warning to nearly three million households in Wales and southwest England on Saturday morning. People in the region were asked to stay indoors as winds of 149 kilometers per hour were recorded.

The warning, delivered with a loud siren-like sound, was delivered to compatible cell phones in areas affected by Storm Darragh. The warning emphasized the need to be careful against possible dangers.

A 40-year-old man was killed when a tree fell on his car on a highway near Preston in the northwest of England due to the storm. In a similar incident in the Erdington area of Birmingham, another driver died after being trapped under a tree that fell on his vehicle.

The Met Office issued a red alert on Friday and announced that the effects of Storm Darragh began to shift eastwards from Saturday evening. However, windy weather conditions will continue across the UK.
