Module 1: What is a Strategist?
This module will provide a brief overview of what it means to be a strategist, and why it is an important title to earn and maintain within your professional portfolio.
The role of a strategist is to think about the big picture and develop plans that will help a company or organization achieve its goals.
The strategist is a professional who is responsible for planning and implementing a strategy by executing initiatives aimed at achieving a specific goal and a set of objectives.
Strategists must be able to think critically and creatively to identify opportunities and threats, and they must have strong analytical skills to evaluate data and make sound decisions.
Responsible for making decisions about the direction of an organization, the strategist must be able to think creatively and critically in order to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
Furthermore, the strategist is always interested in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities!
The role of the strategist is to work with executive management in an organization to develop and implement plans and policies that will help an organization achieve its goals and objectives.
Together with the strategist, the executive management team works to identify and assess opportunities and threats internal and external to the organization in order to develop and implement plans to capitalize on strengths and address weaknesses within an organization.
They must be able to see the forest through the trees, as they say, and identify any possible opportunities and threats not easily observable.
This requires critical and creative thinking, as well as strong analytical skills.
The strategist must be able to work well under pressure and handle ambiguity, and must be an effective and persuasive communicator that has the ability to persuade stakeholders to buy into the proposed plan.
A strategist must be a futurist, with an ability to think long-term, as they are responsible for making decisions that will have a lasting impact on an organization.
They must be able to see beyond the immediate challenges and develop plans that will help their organization succeed in the future.
The role of a strategist is not an easy one, but it is an important one.
They are the ones who make the decisions that will shape the future of a company or organization.
