The lesson on December 8, 2024 was part 19 of “The Book of Matthew” study. Wayne quickly reviewed what was covered in the previous lesson and continued with the healings that Jesus was performing in Matthew 9. Specifically, the two women and two blind men. In Matthew 9:18 a certain ruler had come to Jesus to worship him and ask that he heal his daughter who had died. In this passage, Jesus accepted the worship. Compare this to Revelation 22:8, when John fell down to worship the Angel that had shown him these things. The Angel did the right thing and rebuked him saying he should only worship God! Cults who worship Angels are severely lost. Back in Matthew 9, Jesus rose to go heal his daughter but on the way, a woman with an issue of blood for 12 years had thought to herself, if she only touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be whole. When Jesus saw her, he said based on your faith in Jesus, her issue was healed. When Jesus made it to there house, musicians where already playing sad music and there was weeping going on. The Lord Jesus made a comment for them to leave, the maid is not dead but only sleeping. Jesus uses the metaphor of sleeping because Jesus is the resurrection and the life! In Christ, when you die, there is the promise of a “waking up”, in resurrection to eternal life. People that don’t believe in Jesus laughed and scorned him. When he went in and took her by the had and she woke up! It is an amazing thing about the cells in our body, it is like a machine city when it is alive, but it stops when you are dead. Well, when the maid arose, the fame of all that happened spread throughout the land. He then was approached by two blind men. He touched their eyes and said “according to your faith” your eyes are healed. He told them to keep it a secret but it was made known and Jesus fame was increased. Jesus then healed a dumb man possessed with a devil. Once the devil was removed, he was able to speak. In Matthew 9:35, it solidifies the context of this calling specifically to Israel. Matthew 9:35 KJV “35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” They could heal every sickness and every disease among Israel. The gospel of the kingdom is very specific to Israel. In verse 38, the Lord ask them to pray for laborers that would carry this gospel of this Kingdom.

The scripture reading was from Matthew 9:18-23 KJV “18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. 20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. 23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,”
