In Revelation 4:4, the apostle John sees four and twenty elders sitting around a throne, representing the entire church of God, both in the Old and New Testaments. This concept is important as most churches believe in following only the New Testament. The elders' sitting signifies their honor, rest, and satisfaction, their relation to God, and their inherent righteousness. They wear crowns of gold, symbolizing their authority and glory with God.

John also sees lightnings and voices emanating from the throne, indicating God's sovereign will and pleasure. These are the seven lamps of fire, which represent the gifts, graces, and operations of the Spirit of God in the churches of Christ.

Before the throne, there is a sea of glass, similar to the vessel used for priests to wash before ministering. In the gospel church, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses all sins, even from sanctuary-sins. The first beast is like a lion, the second like a calf, and the third has a face like a man.
