I re-recorded Piano Phase this time using an electric piano on the left, and an acoustic piano on the right.

We started learning about minimalism in music in our music history 303 course and I became fascinated by it, so I learned Steve Reich's Piano Phase. Normally two people would both play this complicated 12 note pattern in unison and then one pianist would very slightly increase the tempo, gradually pulling "out of phase" with the other pianist until the two become offset by one 16th note creating some really cool sound patterns. This process is repeated for each of the 12 notes in the pattern until the two pianists (or I) arrive back at the starting note in unison. If this sounds confusing to you, look up information on the piece and the composer. Also consider looking up minimalism. It is tougher than it looks...
