Woman's Defective Brake Lights Turn into 2 Felony Charges

On January 2nd, 2023, an officer was driving behind a vehicle when she observed that the car only had one working taillight. After she initiated a stop, the driver continued for a short time, then jerked to the roadside and slammed the brakes. The driver was exhibiting mannerisms consistent with being under the influence of drugs and alcohol so the officers asked her to step out of the vehicle. The female pulled away, resisting several times while she was being detained. After conducting a sweep on her vehicle, she was transported to the county jail for DUI investigation. It was then time for the field sobriety tests. The female continued acting difficult not knowing that it could get worse for her. The female kept talking about irrelevant topics, delaying the exercises and ultimately not finishing them. However, the officer was running out of patience. The female continued her rambling and was uncooperative till the end. Next, the female was asked to provide breath samples, which she first agreed to but then later denied. The officer ran out of patience and was not willing to listen to the female’s cries. She was then asked to consent to a urine sample which she denied as well. The officer conducted a basic interrogation after reading the female her Miranda rights. The female was charged with DUI and resisting arrest without violence.
