South Korean President Yun Suk Yeol Survives Impeachment Bid For Imposing Martial Law

A motion to impeach South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol failed as members of Yoon's People Power Party (PPP) walked out of the chamber ahead of the vote. Some lawmakers were seen shouting and cursing at the ruling party members as they left. With only a single member remaining in parliament for the impeachment proceedings. Meanwhile, over 150,000 protesters gathered outside parliament, calling for the president to step down. This follows President Yoon's December 3 declaration of martial law, the first in 40 years, which was lifted six hours later after facing strong opposition. President Yoon has since apologised for the decision.
