Georgia's large protests, which were sparked by the ruling party's decision to halt talks to join the European Union, started their second week on Thursday. In an effort to put a stop to the protests, police are using more and more force to crack down on the demonstrators.
According to his party, an opposition politician was arrested after being pulled into a police vehicle on Wednesday. Numerous protesters and journalists have been severely battered, and several other activists have been arrested.
On Friday, a riot policeman rushed up to Georgian journalist Guram Rogava, who was broadcasting live from a protest, and struck him in the head. During the attack, Rogava's face bones were broken.
