Several injured in New York house fire, including 3-year-old child

A wind-whipped inferno that tore through a large Mount Vernon house, injured several people, including a young child. Firefighters arrived to flames shooting out of every window of the Elm Street home just before 4:45 a.m. Friday. The wind-driven flames jumped to another house on North Terrace Avenue but were quickly extinguished. All five residents of the Elm Street home were able to evacuate. Four were treated for smoke inhalation. Two of them went to Jacobi Hospital, and the youngest was a three-year-old.
