Syrian rebel forces gain more ground in their advance to Damascus

Syrian rebels are on the outskirts of the key city of Homs, presenting the most serious challenge in years to the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

In just 10 days, a coalition of rebel groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has taken control of major cities, including Aleppo and Hama.

The rebels say they have also seized the southern city of Daraa.

While in the east, Syrian Kurdish fighters took control of Deir el-Zor.
